SHIMICOAT Director, Frank Samani, is a leading global authority on epoxy resin and related products. His interest in the chemical complexities of epoxy surface coatings began during his years studying and gaining his PhD in Chemistry and Polymer Science at Murdoch University. Since then, during a career that spans three decades, he has written multiple professional papers and has played a pivotal role in the research and development of chemical formulations, methodologies and analytical techniques.
His professional career dates from 1990, during which time he has attended and presented at many industrial symposiums and conferences around the world. He is also a member of The Royal Australian Chemical Institute Inc., is a Chartered Chemist and a University Associate of Curtin University, WA.
His work as a research chemist from 1996-2000 paved the way for true industry expertise. This was followed by a chief chemist position from 2000-2005 that, amongst other things, saw him deeply involved in the development of new products. He also played a pivotal role in creating environmentally friendly practices and processes that have defined the drive for reducing waste and improving chemical production around the world.
Since 2005, he has worked as chief scientist, providing project leadership, support and heading developmental teams. His expertise is recognised on a global scale. Samani has led many projects on operational sites across Australasia, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
In 2008, Samani established SHIMICOAT, with the sole intention of offering the ultimate in epoxy resin and associated products to the wider Australian community. In line with his continuing research and developmental work that pushes both chemical and environmental boundaries, so the SHIMICOAT range is also designed using the latest technology.
